Our Business Developer in China, Jessie Gao has shared with us some interesting facts about this season: 

Popular traditional activities of the Spring festival is about having dinner with friends and family, eating dumplings, staying up all night and setting off firecrackers to enlighten the new year. The most important food during Chinese New Year is the dumpling (jiaozi). Made with flour and stuffed with different fillings, dumplings are usually eaten on the eve of new year.

Pasting the “Fu”: The character “Fu”, means good fortune or happiness, it is used to express people’s good wishes and yearning for the future. People usually paste this character on its gates or some furniture in the house during the Chinese New Year.

Red envelopes, also called red packets, lucky money, or hongbao in Chinese, are a popular monetary gift given on some important occasions or festivals. One of the more solemn duties of the Chinese New Year celebrations is for families to gather together in local temples.
